Blessed John Henry Newman

In this section you will find books by and about John Henry Newman (1801-1890). An Anglican clergyman, Newman was received into the Catholic Church in 1845, was ordained and, in 1879, created a Cardinal by Pope Leo XIII. Newman's beatification was officially proclaimed by Pope Benedict XVI on 19 September 2010 during his visit to the United Kingdom. His canonisation was officially approved by Pope Francis on 12 February 2019. On 1 July 2019, the Vatican announced that he will be canonized with four others by Pope Francis on 13 October 2019.
