The Schola Sainte Cécile in England
We are very pleased to advertise the pilgrimage of The Schola Sainte Cécile to England. The choir are based at the parish of Saint-Eugène Sainte-Cécile in Paris and have about thirty members serving the traditional liturgy. Under the direction of its conductor Henri de Villiers, the schola performs pieces too often forgotten from our sacred music heritage with a particular interest in French masters of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
They will visit Oxford, Farnborough Abbey and London. Whilst in Farnborough, a Solemn Requiem Mass will be offered for Napolean III and the imperial family who are buried there; The Empress Eugénie was a great benefactor at the foundation of the parish of Saint-Eugène.
