Residential Latin Course
Our annual Residential Latin Course takes place in August, from Monday to Saturday.
From 2024 we have three tutors, allowing students to learn at the level best suited to them. Beginners focus on basic grammar, using examples from the Missal. Intermediate students look at the Latin of the Mass, an the more advanced on the Latin of the Fathers of the Church.
There are discounts of ascending size for LMS members; for students; and for clergy, religious, and seminarians, including deacons and those about to enter seminary.
The Traditional Mass is celebrated daily during the course.
While booking is open, you will find the details on the Events Calendar.
Online Latin Courses
Matthew Spencer and his assistant Peter Day-Milne teach a rolling programme of online Latin Courses for all levels, some focusing on the liturgy, others on Christian Latin, the Latin of modern Church documents, and on Classical Latin.

Simplicissimus: the Latin Mass Society’s Latin Textbook
This unique Latin textbook, with answers to the exercises in the back to facilitate independent study, uses only examples and exercises taken from the Latin of the ancient Roman Missal. This helps students who are familiar with the Mass to make the most of their existing knowledge, and everyone to experience the cadences and peculiarities of liturgical Latin.
The basic rules are the same as in Classical Latin, and all the noun and verb tables are included in the back. But every register of every language has its own feel, and liturgical Latin, including the Vulgate, is uniquely important and influential, without some of the difficulties presented by Classical authors.
