His Holiness Pope Francis RIP

The members of the Latin Mass Society of England and Wales join their fellow Catholics around the world in prayer for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis.

The Latin Mass Society customarily arranges a Requiem Mass and a Mass Pro Eligendo Romano Pontifice upon the death of the Pope. 

A traditional Sung Requiem Mass will be offered for the late Pontiff at Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane, in London, on Monday 21 April 2025 at 6.30 pm.  The Mass will be sung by the Southwell Consort to Palestrina’s setting Missa pro Defunctis.  

Our prayers are united with those of the whole Church in invoking the guidance of the Holy Spirit as the cardinal electors prepare to meet in Conclave for the election of the next Pope. A Mass Pro Eligendo Romano Pontifice will be held in due course.

DEUS, qui inter summos Sacerdotes famulum tuum Franciscum ineffabili tua dispositione connumerari voluisti: praesta, quaesumus, ut qui unigeniti Filii tui vices in terris gerebat, sanctorum tuorum Pontificum consortio perpetuo aggregetur.

O God who, in thine unspeakable providence, wast pleased to number among the supreme pontiffs Francis, thy servant: grant, we beseech thee, that he who on earth was vicar of thine only-begotten Son, may for evermore have place among the holy bishops who in heaven reign with thee.

Note: Cardinal Vincent Nichols has given permission for Requiem Masses to be celebrated for Pope Francis in the Diocese of Westminster within the Easter Octave.
