Latin Mass Society

Enrol with the LMS as a Priest Member or Associate

Catholic priests are at the heart of the Latin Mass Society’s mission. Without priests committed to offering the usus antiquior, the faithful who desire the traditional liturgy would have no access to it. We currently have around 200 Priest Members and Priest Associates.  Priest Associates can join for free!

Like Una Voce groups all over the world, the Latin Mass Society is lay-led, but to encourage clerical involvement we offer a range of options for priests, including membership, associate status, and benefits for all clergy who want them.

Clergy benefits - offered to all Roman Catholic clergy ...

Latin Courses

We offer an 80% discount on our Latin courses for all clergy, religious, and seminarians, and those about to join seminary, based in England and Wales.

These courses include a rolling programme of on-line courses, and an annual residential course in August, that runs from Monday to Saturday.

Walsingham Pilgrimage

All clergy (priests and deacons), religious of both sexes, and seminarians, can attend the Latin Mass Society’s annual Walking Pilgrimage to Walsingham for free.

Mass of Ages

Priests in charge of all places of worship can request delivery of a bundle of our free quarterly magazine, Mass of Ages.

Mailing lists

All members of the public can join the mailing list of our monthly National E-newsletter, our London E-Newsletter, and the occasional Chairman’s Briefings.

Priest Members and Priest Associats

In addition to the above, Catholic priests who share our aims and sign up as free ‘Associates’ of the Society receive:

  • A personal copy of Mass of Ages
  • A copy of our Ordo for the 1962 calendar each year.
  • The ‘members’ discount’ in the Society’s online shop
  • As occasion demands, we send our Priest Associates canon law advice relating to the celebration of the usus antiquior.

Those priests who wish to join formally as Members and to pay the usual fee are also entitled to attend the Annual General Meeting and vote in elections to the Committee, including for the Chairman and other officers (should nominations exceed the number of places), and on proposed changes to the Constitution (statutes).

Although these votes are rare, the Latin Mass Society is a membership organisation, and our Officers, Committee, staff and volunteers are all ultimately responsible to our members. Paid membership is not just a way of supporting us financially, but becoming a formal part of our organisation and mission.

However you choose to participate in our work, we welcome the support of priests and religious.

Seminarians with Traditional Priestly Institutes and Communities

We know that unlike seminarians and novices for dioceses and other religious communities, men joining ‘Ecclesia Dei’ communities committed to the usus antiquior have special financial challenges.

Accordingly, those who come from or have been based in England and Wales prior to joining are entitled to financial support from the Latin Mass Society for the years of the priestly training. See here for full details and how to apply.

Clergy not in full communion with the Holy See

Clergy who are not in full communion with the Holy See are welcome to sign up as paying Associates of the Latin Mass Society through the joining page. Associates receive all benefits of membership except the right to vote, on the rare occasions we consider changes to the Constitution or in an election for membership of the Committee.
