Mass for St Augustine of Canterbury CD

Victoria Consort

This CD traces, in Gregorian Chant, the arrival of St Augustine in Kent and the re-establishment of Christianity in England from AD 596.

It was recorded in Pugin's masterpiece Abbey church in Ramsgate, now a shrine to St Augustine. The disk brings together the traditional chant for the Mass of St Augustine, the chant said to have been sung upon his arrival in England and other music dedicated to this occasion.

The splendid acoustics of the church make for a relaxing and spiritual disk that carefully recreates the peace and tranquility of Pugin's church in its seaside location.
