Calling Catholic students interested in the Extraordinary Form!
Would you like to join like-minded students and see the Traditional Latin Mass celebrated in your University?
The Latin Mass Society is here to help.
Register your details and we'll put you in touch with other students in your institution interested in the Traditional Mass and provide other help and resources.
What can we do for you?
- First, there may be other students at your institution interested in the Traditional Mass you don’t even know about. We will put students from the same institution in touch with each other. A group of five, ten, or twenty students has much greater weight than just one or two.
- Second, we can help with advice about your rights under Summorum Pontificum and how best to have your requests taken seriously.
- Third, our network of Local Representatives can help with their contacts with local clergy and all kinds of resources and experience: serving, organising a choir, finding liturgical items, what Masses can be celebrated when and so on.
It can be done! The Extraordinary Form has been celebrated in recent years in the Catholic Chaplaincies of Oxford, Cambridge, Cardiff, Bristol, and Durham. The University Chaplaincy is your spiritual home: it exists to serve all Catholic students, and you have the right to request celebrations of the ancient Mass there, where students can attend and where they will find out about it. If the Chaplain can't celebrate it himself, there are many priests around the country who can.
‘It has clearly been demonstrated that young persons too have discovered this liturgical form, felt its attraction and found in it a form of encounter with the Mystery of the Most Holy Eucharist, particularly suited to them.’ (Pope Benedict XVI)
