The Latin Mass Society's annual walking pilgrimage from Ely to Walsingham will take place between Thursday 21 August and Sunday 24 August 2025.
For the more intrepid pilgrim, there are additional options, a ‘pre-pilgrimage’ either from Cambridge (one extra day), or from London (four days plus the day from Cambridge), joining the main pilgrimage at Ely.
These options are only recommended for seasoned walkers, due to the cumulative effect of the walking, and the limited support for pilgrims, particularly on the Cambridge to Ely leg, on which the path is often not accessible by car.
The longest day’s walk is 24.4 miles. The London route was walked by a small group of pilgrims in 2024 and you can read about their experience here.
Heavy luggage is taken by a support vehicle. Pilgrims are accompanied by chapter leader(s) and cantor(s).
- The Cambridge leg will start with Mass at 8:15am in the Cambridge Blackfriars, on Thursday 21st August. The additional cost is £20.
- The London leg will start with Mass at 6am in St Bede’s, Clapham Park in London on Sunday 17th August. The additional cost is £60.
More details are provided in the Pilgrims’ Information booklet.
