Referendum on Abortion

Four lay-led organisations promoting the ancient Latin liturgy are today appealing for Masses and prayers for the forthcoming Referendum on abortion, due to take place in the Republic of Ireland in late May or early June. The referendum will ask voters if they wish to abolish the 8th Amendment of the Irish Constitution, which protects the unborn. If the amendment is removed, it will be possible for legislation permitting abortion to be brought forward.

Masses to be offered for this intention include:

New website for FSSP

The Priestly Fraternity of St Peter has launched a new website for their apostolate in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

There are dedicated pages for apostolates in Bedford, Chesham Bois, Reading and Warrington, plus a link through to FSSP Scotland and Ireland.

Altar Servers Required

We are in need of servers for two Masses coming up in February:

Thursday 22nd, 7:30pm, English Martyrs Didcot: Missa Cantata for the Chair of St Peter.

Saturday 24th, 11:30am, Our Lady and St Anne, Caversham: High Mass for St Matthias (LMS Pilgrimage).

In both cases the church is close to the railway station. We can arrange to pick people up and drop them off, and feed them afterwards!

Missa Cantata at Southwark Cathedral

There will be a Missa Cantata at St George's Cathedral, Westminster Bridge Road, London SE1 7HY at 10.30am on Saturday, 13th January - The Commemoration of the Baptism of the Lord.

Music, by Cantus Magnus (dir. Matthew Schellhorn), will include Missa ad fugam by Palestrina, Exsultate Justi by Viadana and Fuit homo missus a Deo by Palestrina.

The Mass is open to all, please do come along.

Christmas Closure

The LMS Office will close at lunchtime on Friday, 22nd December and reopens at 9am on Tuesday, 2nd January.

Website orders placed during these times will be processed upon our return.

Bishop Mark O'Toole to attend Latin Mass

On the 2nd Sunday in Advent - 10th December - Bishop Mark O'Toole will be attending the 11.30am Mass in the Extraordinary Form  at St Edward the Confessor, Peverell, Plymouth. He will be sitting in choir and will deliver the sermon.

The Mass will celebrate for the 10th anniversary of Fr Anthony Pillari’s ordination.

This is a wonderful occasion for the parish and for the diocese to see the Bishop showing support for the Latin Mass.

There will be refreshments in the church hall afterward, and all are welcome to attend; do come along.

Mass at Pantasaph for the Immaculate Conception

Fr Armand de Malleray, FSSP will be leading a pilgrimage to Pantasaph commencing Friday 8th December. Details of the pilgrimage can be found here.

However, even if you are not a pilgrim, you are more than welcome to attend Holy Mass for the Immaculate Conception at St David's (the Parish Church) which will be at 5pm on Friday 8th December.
