New Sunday Mass in Bournemouth

From Septuagesima Sunday (9th February 2020) onward, there will be a Traditional Latin Mass at St Thomas More Church, Iford, Bournemouth BH6 5QG, at 5.30 pm every Sunday and at 5 pm every Holy Day of Obligation. This has been agreed by kind permission of the Parish Priest, Fr Darryl Jordan.

These Masses will normally be celebrated by Fr Philomeno James, or other priests of the Marian Friars from Gosport, by kind permission of their superior, Fr Serafino Lanzetta.

Vacancy for a Part-time Office Assistant

The Latin Mass Society has a vacancy for a part-time Office Assistant.

Based in central London, the Office Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day administrative work of the charity. This includes office administration, membership renewals, liaising with our country-wide network of representatives, processing orders from our on-line shop and over-seeing work undertaken by occasional volunteers in the office.

High Mass for Epiphany

It was good to see a packed church yesterday evening (Monday 6th January) for our celebration of the Epiphany of the Lord. The setting was Corpus Christi, Maiden Lane - the Westminster Diocesan Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament. The Celebrant was Fr Gabriel Diaz, with Fr Peter Littleton as Deacon and Fr Stuart Foster, Subdeacon; the music was provided by Cantus Magnus. The LMS organises a Sung Mass in Corpus Christi each Monday at 6.30pm and it was very kind of Fr Robinson to allow us to have High Mass on this occasion.

Christmas Holiday

The Latin Mass Society's Office will close on Friday 20th December 2019 for the Christmas holiday, it will re-open on Thursday 2nd January 2020.

Help the Sons of the Holy Redeemer replace their boat

The boat belonging to the monks (Sons of the Holy Redeemer) who live on Stronsay, an island in Orkney, Scotland, was smashed to pieces in a freak storm. To get on and off the island they are now reliant on the charity of local fishermen; they also need a boat in order to go fishing, a mainstay of their diet.

LMS Requiem and Confirmations

Bishop Michael Campbell OSA, Bishop Emeritus of Lancaster, celebrated a Pontifical Requiem for departed members of the LMS in Westminster Cathedral on All Souls Day. Fr Michael Cullinan was the Deacon and Fr John Scott was the Subdeacon. Canon Scott Smith ICKSP was the Assistant Priest. Canon Vianney Poucin de Wouilt ICKSP and Mr Richard Pickett were the MCs. Before the Mass, a wreath was laid on the tomb of Cardinal Heenan in thanksgiving for the part he played in preserving the Traditional Mass in England and Wales.

All Saints and All Souls

Friday is All Saints Day, a Holy Day of Obligation, when all Catholics should go to Mass. There are many Masses taking place around the country - High, Sung and Low. Saturday is All Souls Day, although not a Day of Obligation, all Catholics should want to go to Mass to pray for their departed friends and loved ones. Again, there are many Masses taking place around the country, including the LMS's Annual Requiem Mass, celebrated by Bishop Michael Campbell OSA at the High Altar of Westminster Cathedral at 2.30pm.

St Wulstan's, Little Malvern

We are delighted to announce that, for the first time in more than 50 years, there will be a Solemn High Mass in St Wulstan's, Wells Road, Little Malvern WR14 4JL on Sunday, 27th October (Our Lord Jesus Christ, Universal King) at 3.15pm.

The celebrant will be Fr George Grynowski of the Archdiocese of Birmingham, assisted by Canon Scott Smith ICKSP and Fr Anselm Gribbin from St Winefride’s, Shrewsbury. The Mass will be sung, as usual, by Schola Gregoriana Malverniensis.
